Dark times loom over the kingdom of Thebes. King Oedipus has fallen, and with him the balance of power has been shattered. His sons, once the hope of the kingdom, are now bitter enemies: Polynices marches against Thebes with an army, while Eteocles desperately defends the city's seven gates. Amidst this chaos, the Kadmeia, the glorious citadel, lies in ruins – and the fate of the city seems more uncertain than ever.
In THEBAI, you take on the role of influential noble families trying to gain stability and influence in these turbulent times. You rebuild Kadmeia, strengthen the economy, influence the city council, make sacrifices to the gods – and must always keep the welfare of the population in mind. While heroes bleed outside the walls, inside the city you decide on resources, power, and faith.
This profound connoisseur game offers a strategic and narrative experience that can unfold over several hours. With a wealth of mechanics, cards, tiles and figures, THEBAI unfolds a rich, myth-soaked world in which every decision has consequences – and every round decides fate and influence.
Face the drama of antiquity – and lead your house to glory and honor in one of Thebes' most moving eras!
